Blog 10 - Challenge Week 1 Done

Hey Spark Friends,

I gave up blogging everyday. I was running out of time and between giving up that or gym time...I figured blogging was the easiest place to cut time.

My first full week of the winter 5% challenge has gone pretty well. I think I logged exercise minutes for every day of the week, except last Saturday because I showed up and the gym was closed. My first weigh in was this Saturday morning. I was down 2lbs from my start weight - from 229 to 227. I was pretty happy with that.

This week I discovered swimming again. My dad has a bad hip and can't do a ton of exercise. I asked if he wanted to go swimming at my gym with me on my lunch break early in the week. I ended up hooked! I go every second day or so, while still doing my regular workouts on the elliptical/bike/strength training. I have started going in between my strength training days. I have also found it to be a great option on those days that I just really don't want to work out...because swimming is fun!

I was excited this week to discover a new high protein treat. It does have sugar in it though. It's a salted caramel smooth cottage cheese. Basically it tastes like yogurt lol. It has 10 grams of sugar in it. It's not great but could be worst. It satisfies the sweet tooth and packs a nice protein punch.

While cleaning out my freezer this weekend, I realised it was time to say goodbye to the half empty tub of candy cane ice cream that I buy every year at Christmas. I couldn't believe I hadn't eaten more. I was low on calories that day so I decided to have a half of a cup of the ice cream before throwing it out. It was the weirdest thing! It tasted sweet...like really sweet...like...too sweet? I dug out the dark chocolate pieces and threw the rest away. I guess I will just stick to dark chocolate when I want to indulge.
