In the interest of dovetailing our home schooling adventure with moving our family toward health, I had the great idea to do an experiment with my kids. Maybe we will do lots of experiments.
This one is about sleep.
Going to bed and getting up in the morning are an ongoing battle around here.
This week, we will have three days of experiments to help remedy the issues.
Day 1 (last night) - my 3 daughters (ages 8,9, and 12) can make any choices they want about bedtime. Don't want to brush your teeth? Okay. Stay up until 1am? Okay. Play electronics until your eyeballs fall out of your head up until bedtime? Go for it. You all want to sleep in the same room? K. You're still getting up at 9am. Then, we will do some function assessment.
Day 2 (tonight) - we will have a list. They will choose half of the options and Mom will make choices about the other half. Then we assess.
Day 3 - Mom makes all the choices. Then we assess - and read some articles about how sleep affects the human experience and health.
I've been nagging them for way too long about this. Now, I've got them invested in outcomes, and I'm hoping (through use of the scientific method) that positive change toward family health is on the horizon.
