I gave up sugar several months ago simply because I finally realized that, for me, it triggers cravings for more. I am basing this solely on how I feel, my experiences, and have no research to quote. I just know that I can eat most types of food until I am satisfied, I want to eat sugary treats until the are gone. I never can eat just a little. That one change,...a big one, I know...has made a significant difference for me in how I feel and my eating habits. I had a lapse over Christmas, enough to realize I am right that sugar is not for me! So now I am comfortably leaving the sugary treats and added sugar out of my eating plan. Once again I feel those cravings..the ones that stomp around in my brain, whining like a spoiled child..subside. Adding the structure of portion control and the accountability of journaling is my next step toward my goal.
