Not What I Was Expecting

Well, I had the best week I've ever had for calories in vs calories out. I was on point with my food and went to the gym every weekday morning getting in over 6 hours of exercise. I was so excited to get on the scale this morning because I thought I was going to reach my next big goal...NOPE. I have gained one pound.

At first I was shocked, then sad, then I started to try to figure out why. My only guess is that I am gaining muscle. I have been working really hard at the gym and I can feel differences in my body and my clothes are falling off of me.

I am going to keep pushing and working hard to lose weight. Hopefully the scale will be nicer to me next Sunday.

Peace & Love

You are dense. No no no -- in the best possible meaning! I'm sure you know that a pound of fat takes up more space than a pound of muscle because muscle is more dense. It's GREAT to be dense! That means that, at rest, your body burns more calories than if you weighed the same but had less muscle. That's also why your clothes are falling off you -- you're more dense!

You may also have retained some water, depending on 'that time' and other factors, and that's perfectly natural, too. It could be a combination of the two. Stay hydrated. You know that, too.

Whatever the reason, though, if you've been tracking and working out and met your goals, you did lose fat, whether the scale says so or not.

YASSSS, sis! While Iā€™m not relying on it too heavily, I finally got a scale with a body fat, BMI readings as well so I now know how much of me is lean muscle as well. It helps put the numbers in a proper perspective. Keep up the excellent work! *hugs

It's hard not to let that stupid scale mess with our minds. Sounds like you are journeying in the right direction though.....so just keep pushing! Have a healthy day.
