The winding road that is losing weight lol

Hey all, I want to keep this blogging thing somewhat regular because I think it helps me stay on track.
I have never stuck to a program of tracking calories and working out this long before in my life. I started on December 27 and have been tracking everything I eat for over two months now! I'm really excited, even though I haven't stuck perfectly to the plan.
Two weeks ago I think, I started going up and down because I ate a little bit over and had lots of wine with friends one night (or maybe two). Then this past week, I got hit hard with the monthly curse, combining cramps with intense lower back pain. This prevented me from working out for a day or two, and I also over-ate. I think I was a little dissappointed from the week before when I'd gained back a few pounds after having a good week. I just couldn't figure out what I did wrong! lol
But I've made a point to read about other people's experiences with weight loss, and those who have been successful are the ones who take it slow and accept that it is a winding road. There are ups and downs, the important part is to just keep going. Count those calories and track them even if you know you are over. No one is perfect.
Just like the surprise I got the week I thought I'd done really well, I was surprised this morning when the scale read that I'd dropped a pound this week, despite period woes and less working out....*throws hands in the air with a confused look on her face*
So after two months, I am down 5 pounds. It's slow, but the fact that overall I've lost and not gone back up to where I started is a success for me, a notorious yo-yo dieter. I can't WAIT for it to warm up and I can get back out to my running trail at my favorite park. It is Ohio though, so it could be 70 tomorrow then get a blizzard the next day... I will just have to be patient! =)
