European Vacation Part 2

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

So we began to sail toward our 1st port of Casablanca. With a full day at sea to get there, we could try to REST up, explore the ship...NCL Norwegian Spirit. She was an older, smaller beauty with a cabin design that has outdone many ships & lines we have been blessed to travel on. Even though our balcony was chilly to sit on, I was hoping for upcoming cozy chats with my mister as the days passed. I was DETERMINED to keep my elevator use to a minimum as well as LOWER my buffet meals...& to both issues, I succeeded. I began my day at sea with a promenade walk AGAINST the wind. Being Canadian I am used to wearing my hood throughout the winter, but seemed so strange to wear it & my gloves on a cruise ship.

We had arrived in Casablanca, Morocco. I had been warned cautiously about pick pockets & the Marrakesh experiences of market bartering etc. & was apprehensive of shopping in the center of it all. I kept seeing the DANCING cobras & a few movies had me squirming...(I AM PETRIFIED OF SNAKES) I was wearing my money belt as close to my skin as could possibly be...Thinking any pickpocket who got that close to my valuables... emoticon would be feeling a swift kick to the groin area...All the worry was for not...we went to Rabat which was closer to the coastline & most well known for the Mosques in the Muslim faith.

We had a typical Moroccan lunch which surprised me. Eating in the casbah...was so neat & the chicken & couscous we had was good...I even enjoyed the mint tea...

Sparkers, did you find me????

We left Casablanca with a view from the famous cafe from the movie....Rick's Cafe....

Part 3 begins tomorrow in Las Palmas, Canary Islands...stay tuned...
