Effort to get more organized

Last monday I got inspired to try once again to get more organized about keeping our house clean and tidy.

My goal is to do certain tasks each week so hopefully over time, there will be more order. In fact I need to do something EACH DAY because the pain in my feet and joints doesn't allow to clean and tidy for a long time on end.

I made a schedule of which tasks need to be done when and I will post a sticky note with the chores for that week on my wall where I frequenly see it. I'm also crossing off the tasks in my notebook.
I want to try to do at least one household chore every workday, even if it's just a small task or even if I do just 10 minutes.
After a month or two I hope to be able to see how realisitic my schedule is and see if it needs tweakiing. I have a feeling that MAKING the plan is a lot easier than actually PERFORMING the tasks... emoticon emoticon

So far, so good. Since monday I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed downstairs, cleaned the guinea pigs cage twice, cleaned the sink and the floor in the bathroom and did batch cooking. I did NOT get around to mopping the floor or cleaning the fridge so I am adding them to the chores for this coming week....
I have to keep reminding myself to give myself credit for the chores I DID do instead of letting myself get irritated over the pile of stuff that did not (yet, she said hopefully) got done.

Monday: clean toilet, cleaning the kitchen
Tuesday: clean the fridge, clean cage, vacuum downstairs
Wednesday: Mopping the floor, tidy bedrooms
Thursday: wash laundry, clean garbage bins
Friday and the weekend are for doing chores I might not have managed to do as planned. Or for decluttering.

    I was drawn to your blog by the title, as I, too, am making a big effort to get organized, and I, too, suffer from pain in my feet and joints. Yesterday, I did a deep cleaning of the bath room, and it took its toll on my body, so I realize that I must make an effort every day to keep things clean in order to avoid having to do more lengthy deep cleanings. I agree that making lists is very helpful, and it feels so good to check things off and see your house systematically get cleaner and more organized through your own efforts. I've considered hiring cleaning help, but it's too expensive, and I do like the feeling of accomplishment from doing all the cleaning myself, even if everything can't be clean all at once.

    I hope your schedule is working out to your satisfaction.

    Not sure if I copied the link right, but there is a Spark team for it and it's about cleaning / organizing a little bit each day. You might enjoy seeing the teams goals and how they organize the chores each day. There is also a book out there which I read many years ago - not sure if it is still in print.

    OMG this could be me writing this post! I’ve been slowly trying to clean out the clutter and try to have a cleaner less cluttered house. It’s so hard!! Lol I work full time and trying to exercise and keep things clean almost feels overwhelming at times.
