Surgery - This Just Got Real!

Friday, April 13, 2018

I am having my salivary gland removed next Friday due to a mass since the only way to rule out lymphoma is to test the tissue. I have had other surgeries, but this one has me very nervous. I don't feel like I have lymphoma. Maybe I am being vain since the scar will be visible on my neck. However, The possible complications (which are slim) include paralysis of the face and or tongue. I was informed today that I should expect some paralysis right after surgery, but it should subside. This is stressing me out. I will not be able to exercise for 2 weeks either which has me nervous since it exercise that helps me control my weight! Can't wait for this to be over!

Anxiety is so understandable in this situation. I had a similar experience years ago and the waiting for surgery is the hardest part. Lifting you up in prayer and please stay in touch as you can so I and others can provide you support.

emoticon You will survive your biopsy. It's best to keep in mind that worrying about it only saps energy from the day and doesn't do anything positive. I know that being told that doesn't necessarily take the worry away! Just be assured that you are doing the VERY best you can possibly do and that is all that is required! emoticon
