A note to my friends

Hi all. Some of you may already know that the EU have introduced new data protection rules. So here in the UK I have been receiving dozens of emails from various companies and organisations who have updated their privacy policies, and with a simple click of a button I have been able to opt back in to keep receiving their emails. But sadly SparkPeople have taken a different approach and I was alarmed and dismayed to hear this from them on Tuesday,



"Hello, This is an email from SparkPeople to let you know that--later this week--you'll no longer be receiving our emails. 

We know that this is not what you wanted to read when you opened this email, but we did want to give you a heads up. We want to make sure we're compliant with the new data protection rules rolling out in the EU this week, so we're no longer going to be emailing users who signed up for our emails. 

But have no fear, there is another way to learn from our experts! You can find and read our best content by following us on Facebook, on Twitter or on Pinterest. Or if you're looking for a little extra inspiration to get you through your day, take a minute to join our Facebook group, SparkPeople Motivation, and get to know the awesome people there. 

While you won't be getting our emails, we still want you to be an active, valued part of our community. We at SparkPeople really do believe we're igniting a worldwide movement to help millions of people live happier, healthier lives, and you help make us stronger.

Help! I feel suddenly cut adrift!!

I have always relied on email alerts to keep me in touch with my teams and my friends, so it’s going to take some major adjustment on my part to continue to use the SP. I won’t be alerted when people post on threads or challenges, when friends post blogs, stop by my page, send goodies or SparkMail, or comment on my friend feed, blogs or photos etc etc etc. My inbox is already looking very empty without all the SP emails!I hope I will still be able to access the website and check in on my teams and friends. But in case I can’t, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your wonderful support and friendship.
