Completing a Challenge

After several tries I had my husband take this before pic of me. He was saying "yeah! stick that belly out" while taking the picture. The look on my face is my reaction because I wasn't sticking my belly out. That is (or was) my belly!

I finished the 12-week challenge yesterday and he took an "after" photo for me. I really need to learn how to take a selfie LOL.

I followed the Body-for-Life program alternating upper body and lower body workouts with HIIT cardio. I used Leslie Sansone for the cardio usually. I also ran for some of the cardio because of another challenge I am into along with this one. So far I have walked 106 miles and ran 23 for this challenge. I am behind 9 miles to run. I work out 6 days a week.

My goal was to lose 25 lbs. in the 12 weeks. I lost 18 lbs.

Starting weight: 222 lbs. Current weight: 204 lbs.

Measurements before and after:

Chest: 48 44
Waist: 49 41
Hips: 52 48
Upper Arm: 14 12
Thigh: 26 23

I plan and track what I eat every day and do have an occasional "free" meal but not a complete day because I've been there and done that and undone some hard work doing that. I try to stay within the nutrition guidelines that are on the Nutrition Tracker.

During the 12-weeks I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the hips and hypothyroidism. I added exercises to improve range of motion in my hips and also additional exercises to improve the strength in my legs.

I also made changes to my diet to help with my diagnoses. I added some foods and eliminated other foods that have an effect on thyroid function and that cause inflammation. This seemed to help. My last blood work showed normal thyroid function.

So happy to be on my way to better health. Now I need to find a new challenge and set new goals to conquer.
