7/5/18 CRAZY 4th and meal planning

Yesterday was tiring!
Well, let's start with the night before. I did decent (not great) at the cookout on the 3rd. I had a lot of fruit, some veggies (a few raw carrots and celery. I have to watch the carrots - if I have too many raw ones I get stomach cramps for hours. Yay IBS...). I had a tiny portion of baked beans. a hot dog, no bun. I logged everything and was 400-800 below calories for the day. so I had a serving of a berry cobbler that someone made with berries picked fresh that day. I drank only water.

Yesterday wasn't great for eating, but could have been far worse. I ate while running out the door these frozen chicken and biscuit things I had in my freezer, which I obviously won't be buying again. Cals were 270 I think, so not bad that way, but obviously high in fat and refined carbs, no nutrition really, but got the job done. around 2 had some salmon on a bun with mayo.

Then the day got crazy. We were doing a catering job on the river for a local tv station's private area. We have done this the last few years, my husband, son and I and my husband's friend and his girlfriend help. We had everything set up and ready to go when a strong storm blew through. we had to hold down the napkins and buns, drop the canopy down and hold on to it for about an hour while we got strong winds and rain. Nearby bounce houses were blowing towards us and the grill (it was grill on site with a large tow behind grill), but luckily got stopped by a large light pole. We had about 10 people under the canopy with us holding it down, drinking a beer. It was crazy! but kind fun. The storm eventually ended, we were all soaked, but everything still went off as planned. the people came, the buns weren't soggy :) And we got to see the fireworks up close and not with tons of people smooshed next to us. Pretty good deal.

So, I was on my feet from 5-9 catering. I had a miller lite and a cookie while under the canopy. I hardly ever drink anymore, but it was pretty darn good, especially in the situation. We were passing beers and cookies around while we were stuck sheltering during the storm. For dinner I had about 3 bites of potato salad, a grilled butterfly pork chop with bbq sauce on a wheat bun. Later I had another cookie. I logged everything and was on the low range of my calories. So not great, but not horrible. And at least I was working and sweating.

Today I am meal planning and I think I'll try out my local grocer's online ordering and pickup. No impulse purchases! :)

I've been logging food regularly since the 1st, and blogging every day except yesterday. I'm trying to get involved in some of the new teams I've joined like "Eating Clean" and some autoimmune and low carb (for autoimmune) groups, motivation, etc.

Hope everyone had a great 4th and is doing well this week. I'm off to go walk and stretch, I need it! Have a great day!

I have a friend who takes my grocery list and goes to the store for me once a week. If I forgot to put something on the list I don’t get it that week, or I have to make a special trip. She only gets what’s on the list. So, no impulse purchases! I realize she is shopping for just me... and I do one big shopping trip at the beginning of the month to stock up on meat and canned goods. But I think if I didn’t have this friend to shop for me that I would use our local grocery delivery service!

Logging always kept me honest. We haven't really changed our habits so I don't log literally anymore, just mentally. And my grocery shopping trick is that I can't buy anything that isn't on my list. That helped curb at least three temptations last week!
How cool that you have local fruits and veggies. Is your own garden producing? We have tomatoes galore - too bad we can't swap!
Your even sounds like it was a blast!

Obviously I wasn't eating clean yet, but I'm making daily small changes and being more aware of what I'm eating that needs to go off the list and not be bought again. :)
