Butterflies & tattoos... decision to make

Sunday, July 15, 2018

I love butterflies and what they represent - re-birth! (to me anyway)

I have this vision of a ankle tattoo with a red butterfly and a blue butterfly coming together with a emerald green heart in the middle and a very cute bow tying it together in the back of my ankle - I might even have the red and blue butterfly drawn again on my foot.....

The Blue butterfly is for Twin A (I always put blue on him when he was little and to this day his favorite color is still Blue)

The red butterfly is for twin B - (I always put red on him when he was little and to this day his favorite color is still Red)

and the emerald green heart - is for my favorite color and these boys are truly my heart!

Why the decision - because i have never gotten a tattoo before, I don't even know where to start researching a tattoo parlor and I think my DH is against it - I am scared - I know it will hurt and I honestly have no idea why i want one - only that i do.

I am thinking about making it my gift to myself when I feel completely comfortable in my own skin - I have not been getting on the scale - except for once a month - it has been helping focusing on me and how I feel instead of a number on a electronic device.

What to do - what to do??? this is completely out of my comfort zone - and I do not know if I am truly brave enough to do it......

PS this blog is mostly for me to go back to reference it if I need to.. Thank you

I would never get a tattoo. Why not think about having an artist paint the picture you described instead of getting a tattoo.

Very good suggestions here, and I think you should do it. Your design is sound and meaningful, and a good artist will make it beautiful. I’ve never had one so I can’t speak to the experience of getting one, but your strong desire will allow you to endure it. Try making your own picture of what you’re describing to get a visual going for size and placement. You’ll be able give it to the artist as a direction but I would still expect them to come up with the actual design. Get the best artist you can find, even if that means traveling to another place to get it. Expect to put some money into it, remember this is going to be permanent, and you want your results to make you happy. Don’t rush it.

Sounds like you are making changes. I do not have a tattoo, but I had a temporary one for an event I attended. Don't think I want that one permanently

I stepped out of my comfort zone and put a tattoo on my back just beneath my neck, a butterfly which represented me, and 5 stars which was for each 10 lbs I lost, I am stilling hoping to add to it with more stars.

The advice to ask people with tattoos you like where they got them and getting a temporary one seem like very good ideas!
emoticon It’s your decision, once my hubby objected to me getting my ears pierced early in our marriage, we’ve passed our 57th anniversary.....they survive!

What a lovely & meaningful gift to YOU! Take your time & shop around. The suggestion about websites is a good idea. Also, be brave, if you see a nice tattoo on someone, compliment them and ask them where they had their work done. Glad to see you posting.

Most tattoo places have a website. Maybe check that out first. The various tattoo artists should have samples of their work posted on the site. Any artwork you have, bring in to show them. Make sure you can be specific in what you want, checkreviews
