This is the 6th year we have picked somewhere in the US for us to meet for a week. Being as we are an RV team, some of us can break away to attend. We try different areas of the US so every member has an opportunity to attend.
This year we picked Mackinaw City at the tip of the mitten of MI. We had 6 Spark Ladies that attended. Here we are in a lovely group.
In order is JAMER123 (Eileen from TX/MN), SHARONSPARKLE (Sharon, TX/MI), GLASSART43 (Marianne from CA), HOLDINGMYOWN (Heather all the way from Canada), GRLTAZ (TC from Iowa) and BOOBERRY (Brenda from southern IL)
Monday we had a meeting to decide who wanted to do what and we found the main thing we all wanted was to take a ferry to Mackinac Island. For those that have never been, there are no automobiles on the island so we had to take a carriage ride and our driver told us all the historical info as we ride, Well worth the money if you go and both drivers we had were great!
Tuesday morning we all went to Fort Mackinac. We wandered around and took in every thing. Of course, it was lots of walking so we had to stop and rest.
After the Fort, we all went to the same restaurant for lunch and then separated as we all had different things to do.
Some of the highlights were our trip to the newly expanded casino for some slot play, a trolley ride that took us over the bridge and back, walks in the campground as we were right on the beach with a beautiful view of the bridge. On Friday night we had a awesome view of the fireworks display.
But my favorite memory will be our campfires we had every night. We really got to know each other so much better. Mike (with TC) made us the most wonderful fires with color even.
Some evenings even got silly. Upon discussion, we discovered we all had RV camping PJ's. So the ladies went and put them on as it sounded like a good photo op.
One of the last things we did as a group was a final dinner in town. The restaurant had an excellent buffet which pleased our men. Heather presented me a insulated glass that said "Born to Sparkle" with a Thank You card from everyone for organizing our rally. I must say it brought tears to my eyes as I love all these ladies!
One last thing to mention is our beautiful weather! Not a drop of rain the entire week. It couldn't have been better if we ordered it. Thank you Lord.
We have all returned home safely as of today and already we are planning our get together for next year!
