My girlfriend in Woodinville Washington told me about a group on facebook called Woodinville Rocks. Someone started painting rocks and hiding them and instructed people to take a photo of the painted rock and post it to Woodinville rocks so the artist can see that it was found and appreciated. then on the back of the rock it instructs folks to rehide, leave where it is or keep. then directs people to the group on facebook so they can join the group and have fun painting their own rocks and hiding them. So I am going to be new to Bedford, PA and thought I would start a group just for Bedford, Pennsylvania. So I set up the group and painted a bunch of rocks. I have only hidden one so far, but am going to hide the rest today, I think although rain is threatening. I do spay shellac them to protect them from the elements.
Below are some photos of some of the rocks I have painted. My goal is to send rocks to friends across the states and see if I can't eventually have one of my rocks found and photo taken and posted in each state! It will also be a good way for me to meet people here in my new home town of Bedford.
To that note, I need more members to my group and would love any of you who go on facebook to search for the group Bedford PA Rocks
Make sure you pull up the right link as there is already a Bedford County Rocks but I started the Bedford PA Rocks
Join my group and tell your friends and if you are interested in me painting a rock or two for you to hide in your state, that would be awesome!!! I will paint a couple and send to you. you can instant message me from facebook with your address so it will be private. I tried the ADD A LINK here on sparks but we all know many times it doesn't work. so just go to facebook and look up Bedford PA Rocks. you don't have to live here to join and you don't have to live here to pain your own rocks and hide them with the instructions to go to Bedford PA Rocks to post photo. I would love seeing posts for all over our beautiful country. So please tell all your friends. BTW, anyone know anyone living in Alaska or Hawaii? Would love to send a couple of rocks there to be hidden. Below is a photo of me that my husband took yesterday of me "hiding" my first rock which was a painting of a clown on a nice flat rock that I found at Shawnee State park. I returned it to the park and just left it on a picnic table.
The other photos are of rocks I have painted. I am going to go and collect more really thin rocks from this creek I found that has them. that way they will be less expensive to mail to friends across the states. So please join and let me know if you could hide a few rocks in your area.
Here's hoping you all join the fun and have a terrific day!
I was is Wrightsville, PA over the summer for a workcamp and the person whose house we were working on had a group that paints rocks and she gave us some rocks to leave at stops along our way home. 640 days ago
