Over the past weeks my little home city has become flooded with a beautiful sea of red poppies, on buildings, shops, gates, fences, bridges, around every corner as I walk around the city each morning, a truly awe-inspiring tribute.
I wish American's had a better understanding of the meaning behind Veterans' Day/Remembrance Day/Armistice Day poppies. Many do but so many do not. It is one of those things that have gotten "lost" as times and our culture has changed in the past 50 years. It was such a big deal when I was young.
I find it interesting and very sad that even those who have military members in their family do not know or remember the historical significance of the Poppy. Thank you for sharing. I am grateful that there are those who remember and honor the sacrifices and the ultimate victory. 837 days ago
