Torn tendons and a boot

I've been struggling with some ankle pain and swelling on and off for the past year. I was finally starting to do better with exercising regularly, and thought the symptoms were brought on by stress from the way an issue with hammertoes was affecting my gait when I walked. I bought these loop and velcro toe straighteners to help my problem. It did help, to some extent, and I genuinely thought that all I had was a tendon pull or something.
Stopped exercising the past couple weeks to give it a rest, then decided to get it checked out. My podiatrist thought that maybe I had some permanent damage in my tendon, and sent me for an MRI. Turns out that I have 2 small tears in tendons in my ankle and a degenerating ligament. Wow! I was pretty surprised. I had more pain 7 years ago w/an actual pull, rather than a tear.
Anyway....I had stem cell injections that will (hopefully) regenerate the damaged tendons (not covered by insurance!). Shots were followed by light laser therapy treatment (5 more to follow). There was so much new info to absorb that I had forgotten to ask whether the shots do anything for the ligament. I'm in a boot for 3 months - super awkward to walk around in it. It is making me shift my weight in weird ways. Hoping it won't cause me to strain other body parts. Will probably have to go to PT when I get out of the boot, and will need to be wearing a big, old, ugly hard brace for exercising after the recovery.
I am really hoping that we don't get any snow. My husband had a quad bypass 2 yrs ago and can't shovel....now, I can't either! We don't typically have kids in our neighborhood who want to shovel.
Really thankful it's not more serious and doesn't require surgery, but am less than thrilled. :(
(Tell me it's ok to have a pity party- just for today......)
