No F***ing Way

That was my reaction to the mention of going vegan 2 years ago. “Those people are friggin’ nuts. They don’t even eat honey!” Just the thought was so incomprehensible, I tried Keto first. I mean, giving carbs is easier than giving up meat, and cheese, right? What was I thinking? It was all about that dumb number on the scale. It took over my common sense, and I lost focus of what was truly important. It doesn’t matter what size jeans I wear if I’m not healthy. It was when a gym buddy of mine, the same age, thinner than me, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that a lightbulb went on. You can look so fit on the outside, all while your insides are dying. Look, no one becomes a vegan overnight. And if they do, they probably can’t stay one. It’s a process. And the process is different for everyone. I’ve been on Spark for 9 years this February, and I’m about to commit to doing something I thought I could never do. I’m taking the vegan path. I’m going to do the following: -Write more blogs, to share my struggles, my solutions, my failures and my success -Post a vegan fact or meme EVERY DAY. If it offends, I’m sorry. I am a dietary vegan, so I will not post anything about abuse in animal agriculture. -Post my meals, along with recipes if available. To be honest, it was Instagram that changed me. Vegans were teaching me about protein requirements, and things to eat, and their meals inspired me. So now I hope to inspire you. This is a new year, new goals, new attitude and I’m excited...let’s get healthy, Spark friends! Disclaimer: I understand there are those who go Keto because certain health situations require them to. I am not criticizing anyone who does so because they have no choice.

As a cancer survivor I can appreciate the health benefits of a plant diet...I just haven't made that commitment yet. Especially with a meat-and-potatoes hubby. I am very interested in what you cook up and what struggles you battle (and win). Please share!

Wishing you all the best. Hope maybe I can join you. I was vegan for a year and half. But started having trouble with making red blood cells and doctor put me back on eating meat. Blood ok now hope to start back someday. Sorry now I gave all my cookbooks away. I did lose a lot of weight and felt great. I look forward to reading your blog and post. Glad you found a diet that works for you.

A lifestyle is a personal decision so it should not bother anyone else if you choose to be vegan. As long as you don't preach and are only sharing again it should bother nobody. I would not be able to life a Keto lifestyle and I do enjoy meat but I am not offended by the pictures of keto meals. I like how you post pictures of your food it is inspiring to see food that looks very delicious that is vegan. I do not think I will ever join you as a full time vegan but I am sure I will try some of the recipes for meatless dinners.

Good luck. Don't forget the B-12 supplements. I read you only get it from animal products and vegan have to take a supplement. May have been a Spark People quiz I got that from. Again good luck. emoticon

I came to read your blog because I love the title. I say this a thousand times daily. I'm not ready for any type of drastic diet change. My focus this year is working on commitment to myself, and loving taking care of myself. Good luck with your vegan path. Who knows, maybe I will join you in 2020.
