Yard Lights, Landline, Gym Pool, Sugar Success, New Food Eliminated, Misc.

Friday, January 04, 2019

Either I can't think of a thing to blog about, or have a rush of topics to cover. As I've mentioned days ago, decorations are packed away, but because my front yard lights are small, twinkly things, I plan to keep them up and on for awhile. Then, I'll put them in backyard to continue enjoyment.

The ongoing debate I've had with myself is whether to get rid of my phone landline. Yes, I know the old things about 9ll being more accurate from landline in emergencies, but cell phones have gotten a lot better. Plus, I'm tired of paying for two phones. Polling friends, it's pretty much a split decision evenly divided.

I called the gym today and the pool is schedule to re-open later next week. They completely redid it from top to bottom, so I may give it a try again and limit my swims so I don't get a chlorine overload. I have that over-sensitivity to chlorine and have to be careful.

I've been away from the gym for three months now. Continued doing stuff on my own, but I may start back on Monday. We'll see.

Day 24 without added sugar and I continue to feel soooo much better. It has reawakened my taste buds and made fruit even more delicious with the taste of natural sugar. I usually tackle one food item at a time, but this time I am going to tackle two.

I've blogged before about over-eating cheese. And eating too many salty things, like olives. I'm not totally eliminating them, but restricting them to healthier quantities. Today is Day 2.

New year promises to be a good one and I'll do what I can to make it so. Fate will do the rest, but I want to be as healthy and strong as possible for whenever the wind shifts and surprises arise.

Big hug to all for a happy, healthy 2019 for us all.

We like to keep our tree up until the twelve day of Christmas. Jan 6th.
We have kept our landline for our son's pacemaker... for new ones, there is an app for that. However we live in a dead zone, so we have reduced our landline bill to only receive incoming calls, we have to pay extra for outgoing. You will find what works best for you.

Unfortunately, landlines are becoming extinct. I like the stability and sound quality of the landline. I don't care for the idea of being on call 24/7. I am at home mostly so I don't need a mobile. It has an answering machine so I don't have to miss a call while I am out. But it is silly to have two phones. All my relatives have dropped the landlines in favor of cells. Its like paying twice for the same service.
Hope you can tolerate the pool better.
I like it when yards leave lights on year round -usually the classy white lights- as a decorative feature. When I get mine up in my apartment, they will stay.
There was cheese at the party tonight. I went overboard on it. It was an old favorite. I don't buy it anymore as dairy is supposed to be inflammatory. Sounds like you are doing great!

Good for you! I need to cut back on sugar. Not sure I could give it up completely, but I do need to cut back. Easier some days than others...

I am keeping my land line b/c if power goes out I still have a phone.Hard to charge cell with no power. To keep costs down you could put land line at bare minimum basic service. Oh yeah I have had the problem of eating too much cheese!🧀I love it!

I too stopped my land line service. Worked out good so far.

I have the same debate over the 2 phone situation. So far I am keeping it as I live in a stormy area and cell phones, satellite T.V., and satellite internet are not dependable if it is storming. We have seen cell towers come down. So I think for a while it is better to have more than one way to contact the outside world.

I always take an immune enhancer before I have to go to the doctor or other germy places and a gym would fall into that category. You might try that as the flu is going around.

I always limit my cheese, olives, and nuts.

Dropped the land line about 3-4 yrs ago and don’t miss it at all.

I’ve stopped eating pretty much all sugar and flour since Oct. Feeling great. Reduced hunger and cravings after 3 weeks in. Love that! Also have newfound love for fruit...ones that were once mostly forbidden like bananas! Frozen cherries. Now persimmons!

    Best wishes!

I tool my holiday decorations down also. I switched to cell phone only about 2 years ago, never regretted it. It is great that you have eliminated sugar and that you feel better for doing so. emoticon

We've been cellphone only since about 2005 and I don't miss a landline in the least.

Great job on the sugar! And keep up the good work on the salty stuff too. :)

we Have a landline only because we don’t have a cellphone. Our landline is how we can connect to our iPad. It is also a way to keep getting phone books and others look us up if they need to. Others question us on how can we get by without a cellphone but if you don’t have one we don’t know the difference. We have a answering machine and can leave a message. Most people have there phone with them and we don’t want to be tied down like that. Glad to hear you are constantly improving and achieving and going for it!!!!

All sounding good. Funnily enough I've been musing over the last few days whether to bother with a land line when I eventually get to move. Quite a few other hurdles to jump before I have to make that decision though.

I feel the same way about blogging...either nothing or too much to say.
I thought about getting rid of mine landline but it only costs $10 in my fios bundle and our consumer cellular phones are not the most reliable little all the people and doctors and companies that only have our home phone...geez!
    Happy 2019!
