Neighbor's Passing, Doc Appt., Silly Birthday Again

Thursday, January 17, 2019

Thanks to all who wished my neighbor well yesterday. I received a message from her husband that she had passed that morning that I witnessed the ambulance pulling away. There is usually no reason police cars are there, so that's how I guessed. He cried during the message and thanked me for the card. I didn't expect a call during his time of grief. They are such wonderful people. The good thing is that he has a son and grandson who live with him, so he's not alone.

I appreciate your compliments, but I don't fish for them. I tell you things because they are added stress and sadness on top of things going on in my life. For example, today's doc appointment. Accompanying a relative later this morning, each year there is something new and every single thing can be corrected with proper diet. It's a reminder to me why I'm here on SP and continue to strive for good health. It's the most important thing of all, the foundation on which everything else is built.

Once again, I share my silly birthday story. My dear cousin (like a sister to me) passed eight years ago. Shortly before she departed, she teased me about my birthday. At first, I celebrated all week long. It's the first week of Feb. Then, I progressed to the entire month. And finally, she said, "It's January, isn't it time to start celebrating your birthday?" So, yes, I now start mid-January.

Yesterday I bought two birthday balloons. I was born on my dear grandmother's birthday, so I bought one for me and one for her. They will last until the end of Feb because they have hearty air inside and are long-lasting. Each time I see them, I smile.

Wishing all a happy, healthy day.

So sad about your neighbor's passing. I hope you had a great birthday! I always make a point of celebrating my birthday. It's the one day that is mine. I refuse to work on it. So CELEBRATE all month long!

Sorry to hear that your neighbour passed away. So nice the husband
thanked you for your card in his time of grief.

I just got back from my North American trip and now find that my aunty
is in need of oxygen and I am sort of getting used to the idea that she
won't be going home as the doctors say she is near the end. I am so
glad I went to see her last year.

I am preparing myself to fly to Sydney. she has suffered so much.
All I can do is pray that she will soon be at peace.

I am another who chooses to celebrate the years I have been given with a big bang - lots of balloons, party streamers, and, yes, even a special birthday cupcake just for me! Happy beginning to your birthday - CELEBRATE!!

Never cut a good celebration short! Most people spend far too much time complaining and not nearly enough celebrating! I commend you!

Nothing like a true celebration and how awesome. One month can’t contain you so of course it overflows. Sorry about the loss of your neighbor and was able to leave peacefully in her own home. Happy pre birthday wishes

I sent a prayer for your neighbors. I'm sure it must be really sad for all of them.

It's very difficult to motivate people to change. I have relatives that are morbidly obese and at one point when I was close enough to motivate them they were thin and healthy. Now they surround themselves with other unhealthy people who encourage them to indulge by saying things like, " I don't like vegetables. I mainly want to eat pasta and bread." I have learned to just ignore their problem and work on my own lingering problems.

    Happy elongated birthday. LOL.

Sorry about your neighbor...I am grieving and my dear 88 yr old, a recent widow, only moved to assisted living earlier this week and she is only 20 minutes away and I plan on visiting occasionally.
My birthday is in Feb, too, although I try to ignore it.
