Back and forth, up and down with the same 2 pounds. Although I’m not logging food/calories I have noticed this week that the up spikes come the day after eating out or store bought food. I had a small burger & fries at a local restaurant for lunch; scale jumped up 2 pounds. I brought home a small personal take & bake pizza from the local market; scale is back up another pound. I am wondering about salt content and possible water retention because I know nothing calorie-wise is causing the fluctuations and I don’t have any food allergies or sensitivities other than dairy which I mostly avoid in amounts or forms that cause me problems. I don’t usually add salt to what I make, but America seems to have a salt addiction catered to by restaurants and food companies, and it is in EVERYTHING.

On the positive side I’m now up to 6 miles running on the treadmill for my Sunday long runs. I will be running a marathon in exactly 9 months from today; At some point in March when I start training officially I will see how treadmill miles translate to outdoor miles.

ETA: I have also increased my fluid intake the last week +. Mostly hot or cold tea, plus my morning coffee. I’m not up to the 8 cups daily which seems to be the standard recommendation (and which I personally believe is just a number someone pulled from the air once upon a time), but I definitely drink more than I did previously (which was almost nothing except coffee in the am).

Good for you for planning for a marathon run and now training for it! I think you're probably on the right track with thinking the salt might be causing your fluctuations in weight.
    Keep up the good work!

Did you try upping your water to flush out the sodium a little? WTG on your marathon training!

I definitely notice when I eat out that the salt makes me retain fluid. Very frustrating when you know you didn't over do it on calories but....that horrible salt. I used to cook mostly from scratch to avoid a lot of salt for DH as his CHF didn't allow him much sodium in his diet. Since he passed away I rely too much on eating out or easy to fix frozen dinners which I know has to stop but for now just trying to deal with everything else.
