I NEED Sparkpeople for a Healthier Me

I have been here for a number of years. I have been through highs and lows like everyone else on this journey. I quit a few times, only to come back again. My l last rejoin was in January 2016 after only two months away from the site.
I told hubby awhile back that I NEED this site to keep me going. To keep me from going crazy for sure. Everyone around me for years has been the "oh it runs in the family", except my brother and his wife. They started eating healthier several years ago. Not focusing on weight loss even though they are heavy. Focusing on their health. My stepdaughter, age 27, started on low carb and no sugar last year. She eats a bit of sugar but not like she did. She has lost about 30 lb. or so and feels a lot better. Still a bit heavy, but she feels great and that's what matters to me. Her mother was to do this with her but she lasted a few days. I knew she wouldn't last, but I wasn't telling my stepdaughter that! Her mother is an easy well over 100 lb. overweight. But that is her business, not mine.
My goal now is to regain my health, hoping the weight comes off as well. I do miss my 130 lb. that I weighed for a measly 7 years of my almost 55. Age 15-22. Health problems galore on both sides of my family and my brother and I are living by the adage I read: "Genes load the gun. Lifestyle pulls the trigger." I already live daily with a number of these conditions as does he.
My hubby is the type that starves all day at work and eats from the time he comes home to the time he goes to bed. I've told him to at least have some oatmeal (his favourite) or a bowl of cereal in the morning with his coffee. He can't eat when he gets up. I retort I HAVE to eat whether I like it or not. Two of my morning meds require me to take them with food and I'm diabetic. If there's no junk in the house, he'll complain like a child while he grabs celery or something. He was doing very well while he was taking a lunch because I would make it healthy with fruit, raw veg (his favourites) and nuts. I would add a sweet but make sure it was mostly healthy. He started complaining after a year so I quit.
I have three restaurant dinners coming up. One tomorrow night for early Valentine's Day and the other on Family Day (Feb. 18th) at another steak house. Last one is March 4th with two cousins, my brother and his wife, hubby and I at Swiss Chalet. Swiss Chalet I have nailed because I order the pot pie and fries. Eat half and take the rest for work lunch next day.
Stating here that I am going to make time for exercise. I have equipment here at home to use: stability ball, dumbbells, kettlebell, and resistance bands. Just finding time and privacy. But I have to do it!

Here's to a healthier 2019!!! Third day of tracking food and water again is a good start!
