2 years, 4 months...Say What?

I have been pretty much off of Sparkpeople for the last year, and today I was looking at my blogs and realized my last blog before this one was 2 years and 4 months ago. Crazy!
So much has happened in my life since then.
My oldest son got married and moved to a new state, bought a new house and was finally able to bring his lab Toby home.
My youngest child (daughter) got married and moved to a new state.
My oldest daughter bought a house, and she and middle daughter live there now as it is much closer to work. Of course she took her lab Ellie, and middle daughter took her cat Sam with them. They will probably transition out of SoCal to CO sometime in the next year. They are looking for a less hectic life than SoCal has to offer. That would really make this Mama happy!
Middle child (youngest son) has also moved to a new state and is building a pretty amazing life there with his beautiful girlfriend.
So after nearly 34 years our household is back to just my guy and I, and one cat, which is exactly where we started. Well of course we are a just a smidge older, and it isn't the same cat. My sweet and beloved little dog Trixie passed away from cancer 9 months ago. I am still brokenhearted and missing that baby. Don't you wish our furbabies could live with us forever? I sure do.
Other changes? You wouldn't believe how many!
My guy had lost his job in a really tough economy in SoCal. After almost 2 and a half years of searching for work we called it quits on CA and headed back home (for me) to CO in July of 2018. It is so amazing to be back in the place I love, and my guy had a great job within two weeks of us moving back. We have had an incredibly remarkable time exploring all we can in this great state. So many happy memories for me to relive, and so many neat experiences we are having together. I feel so blessed! The move was also difficult, as we left so many dear friends behind, and I left a job I adored; but it is also proving to be the best thing we have ever done! Now if I could just figure out how to move my friends to Colorado, lol.
On the dark side, my beautiful Mom has had some difficult changes in her life since her accident, the latest being a very rapid dip into the dementia realm. I am currently up here in WA spending some time with her, grateful that she still knows me, but saddened by all the ravages of this horrible disease on her memory. Many hugs and prayers for those going through this same process with their loved ones. It is such an awful thing. I really, really, really hate dementia and what it does to those we cherish.
As for me, I was diagnosed in the late fall with Dupuytren's Disease in my left hand, and am currently in the process of having radiation therapy with the hopes of stopping it's progress. Sadly it is already affecting my ability to repair clarinets, and it has just barely started to affect my ability to play my clarinet. I am hoping and praying that the radiation will help and I won't have to give up that passion. This isn't a life threatening disease, but it sure is proving to be life changing for me.
Back on the bright side!
I got back to SP just in time to join the spring challenge! Go WJR&G team!! And good focus to everyone involved in reaching that 5% goal this spring! We can do it!!!
I really need to refocus, as I have gained 15 pounds since our move and especially since my diagnosis. Did I mention that I am an emotional eater? Yikes!
I do think that the encouragement and motivation of the challenge might just be what I need!!
I am so happy to be back on SP! What the heck was I thinking to be gone for so long!!
Yay for all of my friends who are still here, sticking with their health journey! You all inspire me!
