In typical Ali fashion, it's been a spell since my last blog. I have actually been telling myself to not bother blogging, but I've had a nagging feeling to do it lately so I'd figure I would pop on here and share what has been up. And in typical Ali fashion, I'm not going to bore ya'll with the details (aka I am too lazy to get into it but I'll skim over the details).
I don't want to over glorify the word "busy", but I have had more on my plate lately. I believe my last blog was last fall. I don't even remember where I left off and normally after an absence on here I'd read a few old blogs so it appears I have my crap together. But, today is not the day for that attention to detail. Anyway, I think last time I was on here I was doing my usual stuff walking and clean eating. I do remember I was having a hard time with consistently tracking calories and I think if I wasn't already I was trying to get back into HIIT.
In October, I had a health issue (skimmin' the deets) reoccur. I was pretty much in the bed for a month except to do things that need to be done like laundry, cooking, cleaning, and walking. This was depressing. I was afraid to trigger another onset so I decided to take a break from HIIT workouts. Then the holidays happened. I might have mentioned before, but the end of the year sucks for me. I struggle with seasonal feelings, ya'll. Every year I cut back on things we do too to cope. I saw a family member for the first time in almost a year after a disagreement and it was nice (but hard also because things are different).
Anyway, a good example of how Christmas went was I ate myself stupid when around food. Otherwise, I was walking daily and eating fairly clean but not tracking. I had a doctor's appointment in January and it was the first time I had weighed since October. I gained about 15 pounds, on top of that my weight had been up about 5 pounds since fall. So, I was up almost 20 lbs. I kept making excuses why my elastic in everything was stretched out LOL.
It took me some time and gradual changes to find my groove again with food. I've been doing well lately. I'm down 8 pounds since January with mainly changing some of the foods and lowering my calories. Overall, the volume of my food is about the same because I'm eating a lot of veggies with my meals so I don't feel like I'm eating less. I'm eating a treat meal once a week sometimes, twice a week.
This week I started back HIIT workouts. My food is in a good place and my walking distance has been great. I've got to get more water in. I've cut back on social media which wasn't really a problem for me, goals. I've still been very focused on my art and trying to work on that ever growing to do list again. I have not done well with writing in my journal, but plan to get back to the soon. I'm considering trying intermittent fasting (IF). I tried recently, but I like breakfast too much. I'm thinking about eating supper earlier and seeing how that goes.
Thanks for reading. I hope you all are doing well. Anyone have experience with IF? Like or dislike?
