April 2019 update

Sunday, April 28, 2019

It looks like I've been gone for a while, so I'll give a quick update.

For the last 2.5 years I have been running my own business. It's awesome, but it's also about 15 hour days, 7 days per week. Hopefully I'll be able to hire decent help soon.

Towards the end of 2017 I went for a sleep study because the constant fatigue I've been battling my entire life was becoming too much to deal with- I was not able to function well. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Basically, my brain doesn't rest when I sleep. I can sleep forever. I can sleep until the cows come home. It doesn't matter. I'm not rested. I just thought I needed daily naps because I was really busy..... turns out it's a neurological disorder. There's no cure, and the only treatment is to give you uppers to keep you awake. I refused the meds. Initially.

In May 2018 I joined a dietbet challenge and lost 10 pounds. I maintained.

In about September or so 2018 I decided that I really couldn't manage my life and I decided to try the medication.

Oh. My. Goodness.

My life has changed. I am awake all day (most days). I am getting things done and I feel great. I'm not nearly as depressed as I was (because I don't feel like such a loser). I go to the gym (because I'm awake and have the energy). I have lost an additional 50 pounds, bringing my total weight loss to 60 pounds.

I started at 245- that was my heaviest.
I am currently at 185, which is right under "obese." I am technically only "overweight." I have been maintaining 185 for a little over a month. I no longer wear plus size pants. I am in a 14 regular.

I can't buy my bras at Lane Bryant anymore because they don't carry my size.

I started the couch to 5k program and ran my first 5k a few weeks ago (apr 13th). It was great because I finished, but it sucked. lol. I don't like running so much.

I want to add in ST but I'm not sure where to start. I saw a personal trainer but I'm not in love with the workouts she gave me. That's actually what brought me back to spark. I remembered Coach Nicoles videos and I think I might start there with some weights. I need to work on my (everything) upper body and get some muscle tone happening.

So, here I am. Here I go. Let's do this!!
