8-25-19 migraine status

Sunday, August 25, 2019

Well, I think my migraines are triggered in part by my menstrual cycle. After I got rid of the headache/migraine that lasted for 3 weeks, I got another one, and it coincided with the start of my period, as the previous two migraines had done. Good news is that the pain & light sensitivity only lasted a day or two. I tried hard to eat well and stay hydrated, and I think maybe that helped... or maybe my hormones weren’t as wacky this month. I’m not sure. I am relieved, though, to have a theory instead of having NO IDEA of what causes my headaches. Migraine is tricky!

Mine tend to happen around the same time, luckily not always though.

Magnesium can help & so do other vitamins & essential oils. Google for a list. They shouldn't last that long; most ppl can get sone relief naturally & there are newer drugs too. I suffered for a few years but got past them way before menopause.

My mother's very severe migraines vanished after menopause. They were strongly tied to her cycle. She could predict them down to the day. How long they lasted depended on the level of stress she was under at the time. Interesting stuff. I didn't get the migraine gene, but it landed heavily on both of my daughters and they suffer a lot from them. They head them off preemptively with OTC pain-relievers taken at the first sign of one coming on and this reduces migraine duration down to a few hours instead of days for them. emoticon
