Holiday Check In & Spark Ups My Calories

Today in Spark I set my January 1st target weight, and I have to lose 1.4 pounds to hit it. Spark upped my daily calories from 1200 - 1550 calories to 1570 - 1920! Wow that's a nice Christmas present!

Yesterday we 'canasta girls' had our first annual Christmas party. We had a lovely buffet at the golf and country club. I followed ALL the buffet rules!


The desserts were mini sized so I took 4 different ones and knew I would not eat all of them. I pretended I was a food critic and I was going select the 2 very best to eat. I took a tiny taste of each and thought the cheese cake that I put chocolate sauce on didn't taste as I expected. On a second small taste I recognized the taste of ginger, not to my liking. Next the little cookie wasn't crispy, so pass on that too. But I did enjoy the tiny Nanaimo bar and the mini chocolate mousse. I give myself 100% on buffet eating!

The other night we went to a Christmas movie party, to watch Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation. I was told to bring a snack, not sure exactly what that meant. Was it something to share with everyone, or an individual thing? I decided to do both. I brought the naughty chocolate mint Girl Guide cookies to share, and took apple slices and a string cheese for me. I did taste 2 naughty cookies and ate 'my food'. And yes the host meant bring a food to share. Calorie wise a great success for me!

This year I feel I have the tools to do better if I keep focused. Each morning I step on the scale and remind myself I want that January 1st goal weight more than holiday foods.
