Getting Ready for the New Year

Monday, December 16, 2019

I'm really excited about my plans for the New Year.

It's going to be a Depth Year, a year of focus and clear thinking, and a year of release.

I've spoken of a Depth Year in a previous blog. But to summarize, it's a year of going deeper into what you already own and your relationships instead of increasing or going "wider." For example, to not buy anything new that is not a necessity. For me, that's no new books, no new stationery items, no new decorations, "toys" and so forth and to use up and read what I already have. My mantra in this will be "Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Or do without."

It's also a year to go deeper with relationships, spending more time with loved ones. For me that includes implementing family game nights again (it's been years) and family dinner nights (so many different schedules.) Maybe even a family vacation if we can swing it!

My word of the year is Release.
I have so much to release... possessions, fears (lots of subheadings under this category), fat, bad habits, guilt/shame, comparisons, doubts, unrealistic expectations, and the list just goes on. I know it's not going to happen suddenly, it will be a continual work in progress. I will be focusing on releasing possessions, fears, bad habits and fat this year.

Which leads me to the part about clear thinking and focus. It is the year 2020 after all. :)
So implementing the clear thinking leads to realistic plans to do all of this going deeper and releasing... :) I will start simple. The first 3 goals I set are: reading books from my own shelves, 2 per month, finishing the remodel of my bathroom and cleaning out my closet and reorganizing/remodeling it by the end of January, and getting back to my keto way of eating by meal planning and shopping only from lists.

I have also implemented guidelines for myself on what I can and cannot spend money on. All of this I am tracking in my bullet journal.

This is going to be an amazing year.

I loved your thoughts on this. Half-way through the year I realized that I am doing a similar thing. Certainly Covid forced us into the depths, and I, too, was headed there anyway. Thank you for sharing.

    As usual, you inspire me!

I gotta blog my ideas too, that always helps me focus.

You've got some great plans in the making. I love your ideas. Read what's on your shelf. That's a plan I have as well. Cleaning out. Using up. I mean, it's time.

Good look in your goals. You are so strong and I know you can do it. Just get that stubborn streak fixated on those plans and you are GOLDEN!

Go big, girl! Love you lots!

Sounds awesome. You have stirred some thoughts on all this for my year. Time to make the plan.I see you are doing the Winter Challenge...I stalked you a bit. I am considering resurrecting the Tattoo team. There are 3 tat teams all are inactive. Hmmmm, no interest or what? Will find out I guess.

I like the idea of a Depth year.

Using up what I have is before buying new is something I really need to work on, but I need a clothing budget in there. I went so many years of being too broke for new clothes that now that I'm a little more stable, I'm not willing to forgo a few new items every few months. I love pens and pencils so that's one thing I need to start using up, another is all the food in my freezer. I have so much I've bought on sale and then haven't used because it's buried in there.

You'll have to let us know how are enjoying it a few months in.

Yes, you are going to have an awesome 2020!!! This depth year will work for you in so many wonderful ways that you haven't even thought of yet. Start small (baby steps) & work up to all that you want to accomplish.

I am kind of doing another depth year too. My motto for 2020 is "Less is more" & "be true to me". I always pick out 2 motto's & 1 word (but not sure which one I am going with yet).

You can do this. emoticon ..
