Such a provocative name for a flower!
I wrote a blog this past summer about me falling into my garden after my defibrillator was implanted. I felt fine and mom had driven me home after the procedure and I was told not to use that arm for anything for 48 hours, as it was in a sling I was like ok. and it was my left arm so no problem.
We got home and I was walking in my garden and showing mom the abundant tomatoes that were on the vines, I went to go pick a few for her and there was one that had fallen off in a weird awkward place. I reach over and down to pick it up and I fell over! LOL LOL I wasn't hurt! I had fallen on my Naked Ladies and they cushioned the fall and I fell over onto the LARGE boulder that was there behind them.
I had crushed the tomato and all my Naked Ladies! I was laughing my mom was freaking out and I couldn't move! I was in such and awkward position, mom went to reach for me and I'm like NO! I'm fine not hurt get Josh, (my son) to help me up! I didn't want to have her fall on top of me! I only had the use of my right arm which was kinda under me while I was between the Naked Ladies and the boulder. I had to figure out how to maneuver with out using my left arm, I managed to get my arm out from under me and turned myself so when Josh got there all I had to do was use my good arm to get myself up with his help.
My Naked Ladies didn't have the same fate! They were crushed beyond redemption!!
The reason they are called Naked Ladies is because the bulb comes up in the spring with all these leaves like daffodils do, BUT there is NO flower. You have to let the leaves dry down on there own as they provide the nutrient for the flower that come up in a single flower stalk on its own in late August early Sept and the flower are so beautiful but there are NO leaves at all hence the name Naked Ladies! They are about 24-30 inches tall and they are beautiful!
Also the Boulder that I fell onto, aren't they beautiful Ladies??!?!
A funny story to my life this past summer, God knows I needed that after the year I had!
Hopefully they will come up ok again this year 2020. Someone asked to see what they looked like and this past year was a total cluster and to many things going on I just forgot to post.
Have a laugh at my expense it was worth it!
