My Coffee Supply is Going Bye-Bye Today

Thursday, January 16, 2020

I'm done with coffee (and all caffeine) and bringing my coffee supply to a friend this morning who has gladly agreed to accept the gift. I feel wonderful without it.

Last week I accompanied my family member to his doc appt and apparently that was a huge wake-up call. He's radically changed his diet and has lost some weight already, but more importantly, realizes he was at a dangerous juncture and may not always get another chance if changes aren't made. I also politely told him that I would not be around him much if he were to continue eating the way he was. I can't watch someone killing themselves with unhealthy food intake to the degree he was.

NOT at all perfect by any means, but I feel I have had some impact in helping him toward understanding the seriousness of where he was at. It was a good reminder for me as well, as I sat in the doc's office. I'm doing great with my lack of sugar and caffeine now, and my weekly weigh-ins will be on Mondays instead of every three months. (smiling)

My home projects turned out terrific and I'm planning the next project to be done first week of February with my handyman/contractor. I'm so happy he's turned out to be wonderful to work with.

Wishing all a wonderful day.

"We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey." Steven Covey

Congrats on the coffee kick! I am down to two cups once or twice a week and I'm sticking to that. It doesn't bother me much but I like to have it on the weekends.

No coffee here. No caffeine either. LOL.

It's never easy to deal with family members who don't want good advice. I have the same situation. My family member would rather take poor advice from laypeople than listen to professionals. He used to have a good diet. Now it's the worst and he will suffer the consequences. I no longer am involved. I'm glad yours is wising up.

So glad you found a good handyman!

I'd be the friend gladly receiving the coffee - that is my one habit that I am NOT ready to give up! I'm glad you have been a good example for your family member - I think my DH is beginning to accept that I am doing so much better, that he may start setting goals too! That's a good feeling when a family member decides to work on their health too!

The hardest 'bad' habit I broke was Coke/Diet Coke. I had cut way back on them, but quitting completely was so tough, and I know that just one sip and the cravings would return.

You know when you are trying to break a 'bad' habit, you have to replace it with a good one. That's what I have found works best for me.

Glad the home improvements are going well. That can definitely lead to stress eating!

Well I am so glad that your family friend is turning his lifestyle around, and heading in a better direction. I am sure that your support and encouragement has meant a lot to him.

It is great that your handyman turned out to be reliable and a good craftsman. What a relief! And great that your project turned out well.

I love the Steven Covey quote - our pastor has used it in sermons and it certainly makes you look at things from a different perspective!

Yeah. What a great year so far!!! Did you ever have success with the fryer if its worth the investment? I never got into coffee and now you’re not either! Extra money saved for something else. So glad you finally found a good reliable handyman

It's nice that you are able to influence and support your relative to make this change. We don't always get second and third chances.
Glad your home project and handyman were satisfactory. Nice to have someone you can rely on for those projects that always come up.

I am so glad your contractor worked out well. I know how it is to have a friend.. DH that tends to over eat. I had to put my foot down and not go with him to the all you can eat buffets. I would rather we go to McDonalds.
