Today's quote is another one from Albert Einstein:

I think 99 times and find nothing. I stop thinking, swim in silence, and the truth comes to me.

Here's my take:
Focused thought is necessary for certain problem solving and detailed oriented tasks. But sometimes focused thought fails us. No matter how hard we concentrate, we simply can’t come up with the answers we seek.

I believe Einstein is referring to meditation or non-thought in this quote. When we’re stuck on a problem in the now, we can try meditation or any activity that engages our minds and bodies in a completely different way. Taking a walk outside, singing along to a song, chatting with a friend, running errands – anything to take a break and allow our subconscious to mull over the problem while we do something else. In non-thought the answer often arises as if by magic.

The next time your mind gets stuck, try what Einstein suggests – take a break from ‘it’, walk away and let your mind take a rest from ‘it’. The answer you seek will come. I know it works for me.
