SNOW DAY today???? Or ??????

Friday, February 07, 2020

It was snowing pretty heavily and the roads around me had not been done by 10 AM, and I was due to go to work at 12, I'd leave at 11:35. But the snow was at 4"s and I still would of gone. BUT(a reoccurring word today?) they were saying sleet as I'd be headed home. As I leave my city and go into the next one, there is a very steep hill. It has 4 red lights, 3 of them as you climb up the hill and 1 on the way down. In bad weather ,,and idiots who drive who fast,, accidents happen a lot. Plus the draw bridge,,, that thing is a nightmare for residents because some just do not think the speed limit is there for a reason.

As my regular readers know I LOVE Snow!! So I went out for a walk.

But first I had to do a kitty EVICTION from her favorite spot!! My lap. Awwwww she's such a lap cat and so sweet!!

This is a road I'd of traveled on the way home. It's not a main road, per say, unless you live in the area I do. Many of us use it, plus it goes along one of the shopping centers (there are only 2 in our end of the city). It had turned icy which you can't really tell in the pic. I had to walk so carefully,,, so I instead walked on the side of it since the snow was sticky enough to have a real grip. PLUS it's so GOOD for building muscles!! My legs are FLABBY so they NEED THAT.

I stopped in the shopping center to pick up 1 item and continued along my way.

Walking by the park, which across that is a grocery store, so I picked up 3 more items quickly. I know many hate the self check outs that they take away jobs, and they do, but it's so much easier to use them and get out faster. So I did so.

It's a short walk from there to my place, but it was time to work on my muscles some more!!

Its freezing rain now and it's supposed to continue in thru the AM, and they say til later, we'll see. So I may have off tomorrow also. I get paid for both days so I am okay with that, but I DID Miss the kids today.

It's so great when you love going to work!! Everyone should feel this great about where they work. I had for years worked for the grocery store I went to today. I worked on the front end and since it was the night shift I had more "power" than others who were also shift leaders. My bosses knew I was fair. If I had a worker who hated being there, I'd pull them aside and ask them if they could have their dream job, what would that be? Than I'd encourage them to go for it. Our store had scholarships available to employees which helped them out. I loved it there also. I am clearly a people person.

Life is to short to go thru it unhappy. Hence my journey with SPARKS is because I wasn't happy with the weight I carried. I am still working on this, but I've come a long ways. Never, please never give up. Make the changes you can as needed.

Hope you enjoyed my day!! LOL I figure I'll wake up at 4:30 and check to see if there's school in my city or the one I work in,,, if either is cancelled I can't go in. Them be the rules of the foster grandparent program.

Snowy here too although it did not stay on streets and sidewalks. The first real wintery day - great for kids as no school. I know you love the winter Diane, but for me I'm looking forward to an early spring. Thanks for sharing.

Busy day, but it sounds like you enjoyed it. I don't have a problem with self-checkouts. Jobs are changing all the time. Now people pump their own gas, run their own elevators, bank online and buy few buggy whips. I like the self-checkouts, like you said, in and out so much faster.

Unlike you, I don't like the snow. I hope you had a great Friday.

    Enjoy your weekend.

    Thanks for sharing.

A lovely day for someone who loves cold icy weather! Awwww, Izzy is such a sweetie. I wish my cats were lap cats. Glad you enjoy your work. How nice from the people of your local supermarket to grant scholarships. Love the photos! emoticon

Isn't snow beautiful. I especially love it when it's pristine and no footprints yet ha. You be careful. I love walking on powder (except making those footprints) but icy is just plain scary. We snowed two days in a row this week. Not more than 3 inches and it was gone in two days washed away by rain. That's are usual when we get snow here. BTW I am such a people person too! Love grocery stores, where I talk to random people, and love giving them a compliment for the day too.

I love the photos you share. I'm glad you get the day off, even if you don't get to see the kids. Next time you see them, they'll have fun stories of what they did on their snow day! 😃

I enjoyed having snow days off when I was a student, but only once as an adult did that happen. Couldn't handle living in that weather anymore yet I know many like you do & love it. I'm w/ your kitty, I'd rather be warm & napping!
