Leaping into Blogging for Health!

On this Leap Year Day I have encouraged myself to make the day special and stupendous and positive. After all, this day only comes around every four years.

To do that I'm trying to build more activity into my day. One habit I've been working on is to WALK while I TALK on the phone. So after a 32 minute walk with my canine companions, I called my younger daughter to see what she had going on for the weekend. While we talked, I walked. Afterwards I checked my Fitbit and had added 18 minutes and around 1800+ steps to my count. Then it was time to visit with my older daughter. So, while we talked, I walked and walked and walked. She lives further away so we had a lot of catching up to do. Our visit added another 42 minutes of walking and I don't know how many more steps to my count. Right now I have over 10,000 steps for the day - and that is unusual for me. Despite that, I've had two days of over 10,000 steps this week. So my little new habit I'm working on seems to be helping!

Another positive in my life has been the 5% Winter Challenge. I've been a little scattered during this particular challenge - but just reporting in helped me to be on track a larger percentage of the time. We will finish up that challenge this week. Next will be the 5% Spring Challenge. If you haven't tried that, I would encourage you to give it a shot. I'm on a great team, very good camaraderie, and great help with getting one's focus on healthy choices.
