The Journey has been slow but worth it

Saturday, February 29, 2020

I started and stopped this journey to healthy life style many times. I really didn't get serious until 2014 and even then it was a struggle. Finally wanting to be more healthy got me back on track. Some of my medical tests weren't the best, and so I decided to get serious. I joined sparked in 2013 but like I said didn't get serious until 2014. I joined a number of teams, left some not because of any reason except I took on too many teams and I couldn't realistically be active in all. I do owe a lot of my success (slow as it is) to the 5% Challenge, BLC Challenges and Biggest loser Challenges. I do all three, although somewhat similar a little different. All the teams I have been on and am on now are very supportive, plus I am very lucky I have a supportive husband. At 2014 I weighed 200, today I am 177. The weight didn't come off over night. There were some weeks I lost 2 lbs and other weeks I gained 3lbs. At times I thought this isn't worth the frustration. Then I read some books, checked out various web sites and realized I was doing just fine. Also not to judge myself too harshly when I failed. It was getting back up and on track that matter. Yes there are times I went off script but then the next day told myself I had my splurge so today eat wisely. I just want to say don't give up no matter how slow the journey is, if you fall, get back up. People who succeed in anything do not give up at the first, second, third, fourth or 100th time they failed.. They keep trying, they keep getting up. My medical tests this time came out very well. My doctor was pleased and I feel great. I am very thankful for my sparks family and my family they helped me do this. emoticon my friends.

Hi Joyce, congrats on the results. I too have a history of falling off the wagon and I try again, this time I’m going to be careful and avoid injury. Thanks for supporting me, the 5%-challenge will be fun. Slow and steady - I like that. emoticon

emoticon Glad you decided to keep pushing towards being as healthy as you can. I think I won't call this a diet site, I feel Spark and all the people involved on here are on their own journey of being healthy. I love all the support and opportunities you have on this site.

I so agree with you that it is good to have a support system and that just being consistent by not giving up you will get results.

    Take care.
