Today was the end of the Winter 5% challenge. This has been a very emotional one for me. So many things have happened that have affected me in so many ways. It is still difficult to think of friends that have lost everything, but came through the tragedy with only their lives. So many volunteers have been and continue to help clean up the rubble and help families salvage what they can from the storm. Strangers are helping these precious people to try to cope with what they are having to deal with. Through all of this, they give God the praise for sparing them. We have such strong people living in our rural areas and in the suburbs that it gives me encouragement to make the best of every day. I haven't done as well as I should have in this challenge, but I feel that I now have a better insight into what each day should be. I will be doing the In-between challenge and then be back for the Spring 5% challenge. This is a good way to get and stay on track. There is so much encouragement here that it compares to strangers helping victims coming through the storm. It's amazing just how much a little push in the right direction can help. Thank all of you for being there.

Yes, whether it's here on sparkpeople or in our communities there a re always people out there willing to help us with encouragement and support so we can pick up the pieces and move forward. I spent yesterday morning with a group of special friends and it was very clear that we were stronger with a group with a focus on a common goal than by ourselves. It was uplifting and I think this is what you are observing in your community. emoticon emoticon

Let's live life to the fullest either day and find the spark that gets us to our goals. Meanwhile, our support can spark the lives of others, as well., and to help lift them up.

Yes, it will be a long process and a long time of healing, but everyone helps their friends and neighbors here.
Well over 1,000 volunteers were helping Wednesday, Thursday, and some still are. A good example of why we are called the Volunteer state. Many are still searching through the rubble to salvage what they can. We are a strong people.

I love this reminder to look for the encouragement and give praise.
Both things are with us every single day.

Although I know it will still be many, many months ahead ...
hoping that things are starting to get a little organized there.
