I discovered Plant Based Whole Foods (PBWF) last December (2019). My brother-in-law had to have a stent and his doctor recommended this way of eating to lose weight, lower his cholesterol, and lower his blood pressure. I had been struggling with pre-diabetes for about a year, and I also struggle with high cholesterol and blood pressure. SO...I decided to give it a try after doing my research. I can’t tell you how much better I’m feeling, plus I’ve lost 24 pounds!
My last blood work put me back in “good range” with a 5.3 A1C level. My doctor says I’m no longer pre-diabetic. My cholesterol had improved from 397 to 219, which is awesome improvement, but not enough to get off meds; and my blood pressure was 110/64, so he said let’s stay on the current dosage and recheck for possible decrease next time. I was supposed to go back the first of April for more blood work, but I’m going to cancel the appointment because there’s no need to expose myself to illness for a well-check.
The best marker for me is how I feel and I definitely have more energy, am exercising regularly, and am sleeping better! Another plus is I love the good food I’m eating!
It’s a different way of cooking because I’ve also removed oil from my diet - so, sauté is a whole new experience, lol! After the first month, my husband saw the changes in me, so he joined me! He’s lost 15 lbs. already!
