Pandemic and weight gain

Friday, April 03, 2020

I was doing good with exercise and eating before the pandemic. Every week since the pandemic started I have gained weight. I bought some carb smart chocolate ice cream since I can't go to Sweet Frog to get my frozen yogurt. I ate too much of the chocolate ice cream each day. I am glad my husband finished the rest of it yesterday. I have also been getting a little bit of different things like chocolate animal crackers, peanut butter, and chips when I go through the kitchen sometimes during the day. I need to quit doing that. I had our son buy me some extra spearmint gum so I would chew that instead of munching on other things. I still ended up eating on other things yesterday. Our son wanted a nacho bell grande at Taco Bell and they handed it out the window on a tray. I ended up eating five or six chips with cheese and meat on some of them. We have a stay at home order in Maryland but we can get out for groceries, gas, and food and we can go to the park to walk around as long as we are six feet from one another. My son and I have been good about getting out and getting 5,000 steps each day and then I get on the elliptical at home for an hour to get another 5,000 steps. The air has been cold outside. Yesterday when we went out it was 46 degrees. There was only a couple of people out there when we went walking. Is anyone else finding it hard to eat right or exercise while this pandemic is going on? I hate staying at home most of the time. This past weekend our son and my husband went to the grocery store. I have only been getting out to go to the park to walk. I have to start being mindful of my eating so I can start losing weight again. I hope everyone stays safe and I hope you have a wonderful day!

For some reason, it’s affected me the opposite, and I’ve lost weight. It’s taking some adjustment for all of us. Thanks for the birthday wishes and stopping by my blog.

Same! I find myself avoiding the kitchen if I can so I don't munch. We've had to start buying just ingredients and making our meals because all the ready to eat stuff, including chips, are just gone, so I wont' have that problem much longer as we run out!! I have been having a problem with staying active though.

    Stay healthy!! emoticon

Same story here! Gym and boot camp closed now. All outdoor parks and recreation areas closed and off limits. I understand why it's important to stay in and we fully comply. BUT, we are eating way too many snacks and getting little to no exercise.

I workout 2 hours everyday, but noticed I also put on a couple of pounds. I think being home bound I am not as active as I was when i was doing 2 hours of exercising, plus all the other activities I was involved in. emoticon emoticon

Do what you know to do that works but also recognize that these are really stressful times. Not an excuse but some understanding
