“God Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise”
Saturday, May 23, 2020
That’s a saying I remember from my childhood.
In addition to current problems, our “creek,” that is our lake and river have been rising to levels not seen in decades. Our dock is underwater.
This picture of DH was taken 2 days ago when he moved our kayaks off the dock and onto the shoreline. Yesterday the water was at mid thigh level.
Our house isn’t in any danger. There are 100 steps from the dock to the house. I always said if we were not physically able to navigate those 100 steps, it would be time for us to move to town.
Fortunately, the rain stopped and little is predicted for the next 5 days.
The water level is falling ever so slowly (.04 feet per hour)
Note: While the phrase in my blog title appears to be a simple prayer for heavenly support and a lack of floods, historically it referred to the Creek Nation of Native Americans.
Amazing what you learn when you have a lot of time on your hands.
Stay safe, stay well.
