Being on Furlough

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

I believe I mentioned before that my company furloughed me for a few weeks. I have been working full time since I was 18 so it feels strange to be sitting at home without working. I am getting unemployment so I can pay what I need to, saving what I have leftover.

I have found without something to occupy my time I am snacking a lot more. I seem to be snacking instead of fixing a meal. It is true what they say about cooking for one person. I only seem to cook maybe 2-3 times per week. I am trying not to eat carbs for dinner or after and sometimes it works and sometimes not. I even put up signs in my kitchen that the Kitchen Closes at 8pm but I have found I can easily ignore my own signs. Guess I don't like to follow my own rules.

Volunteer activities?? Are you a blood donor? Does your church need someone to make phone calls to check up on people?
At least by writing about it, you become aware.

Well, it may NOT make you feel better about it, but I am snacking and gaining weight too--my days are not that different at home but everyone and everything outside my front door is very stressful. Try brushing your teeth with a minty toothpaste when you feel like snacking OR drinking 8 oz of water instead. Sometimes that works for me.

Do you have any hobbies that could help distract the snacking?
