Tired of Chicken?
Thursday, July 09, 2020
We’ve all been cooking at home for months now. Our county is closing inside dining again because our numbers are zooming. That means cooking all our meals is continuing for the foreseeable future.
I was getting tired of chicken so I bought a 1/2 turkey breast in my last food order. I roasted it over indirect heat on the BBQ and he had turkey and baked potato for dinner. I was left with the bones and enough meat for another meal.
Today, I’m making turkey carcass soup with lots of veggies. I bought a jar of Williams Sonoma Turkey Gravy Base at Christmas time to make additional gravy for leftovers. I hadn’t used it before and overlooked it in my pantry since that time.
Used it today and it is amazing. It added so much flavor and a caramel color to my homemade soup. I used many brands of Demi glacé in the past and this flavor was far superior. It’s 20 cal for 1/4 cup with no carbs. The sodium is 28 percent so I added no salt to the soup. I’m freezing the rest to use as pan sauces for chicken. Highly recommended.
Just thought I’d share this great find if there are others who are tired of chicken.
