Roller Coaster Ride. August 09 2020
“ And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:7. NIV.
“ But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
Romans’ 8:25 NIV.
Have you ever experienced adversity in your life? When everything seems to be going wrong and you just want to check out. Roller Coaster! These words describe an emotional journey of adversity, and you just want to get of the Coaster. I remember having moved a short month before halfway across the province, not knowing anyone, Clara. 4 months pregnant and she miscarriages. You question why and wonder where God is in that. In Ecuador sitting at the bedside of our little adopted Down syndrome girl and she hanging on to life by a thread wondering where is God? Thoughts start creeping in to your head, “ how can I get out of this nightmare? Maybe all I believe about. A good and powerful God is not real. Why keep going? Why be good, does it make any difference? Why is God not helping?” Sometimes you walk a very thin line between keeping your trust and faith and just giving up. Circumstances were causing confusion. When that happens it is time to really trust God even when He may seem far removed. We truly know that He is never removed. He carries us and loves us. He has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given. He does not disappoint. Loving and trusting God in the good times is easy, but when tragedy hits then we really need to trust and love Him. Not always easy but always worth it.
Christians, May suffer because of their identity in Christ, but as they share or partake in His sufferings, they also share in the consolation or comfort, that abound through Him. When Christians suffer, Christ suffers with them. The greater the suffering, the greater the comfort received, and the greater the person’s ability to minister to others in need of comfort.
🙏.Father God, you have brought us through some very difficult things and we have learned much about You and about ourselves. May we share the comfort that You have given to us with others who are in need of comfort now. Help me to trust and obey You in times of tragedy and sickness. May your name be glorified on earth as it is in heaven. Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins and it’s in Your name that I pray.
