National Left Handers Day August 13
Wednesday, August 12, 2020
As a left-handed person, I wanted to acknowledge this day.
My dad was left-handed from birth but in the 1930s that quality most often got “corrected” in grade school so everyone would write with their right hand. His penmanship never recovered. He did most things left-handed other than writing.
My sister and I were both born left-handed. But none of our children or any of my dad’s grandchildren or great-grandchildren are left-handed.
13% of the world’s population is left-handed. Being left-handed in a right-handed world has its dangers. Most tools and machines are designed to be used by right-handed people so left-handed people have more accidents.
Left-handers are generally more intelligent, better looking, imaginative and multi-talented than right handers – based on discussions among left-handed people.
