Faith in God. Exodus 14:10-31. August 26 2020.
“Faithful is He that calls you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24.
Has this ever happened to you? Things are going well; you are experiencing the “ joy of the Lord.” Within your heart. But, then suddenly an unexpected obstacle blocks your way. We cannot understand why this had to happen. How do we then respond?
That is the time when satan will tempt us to question God and/or wallow in self pity and discouragement. If we respond in this way we will produce sour fruit.
As Christians we should know that God has a purpose for allowing trials into our lives. We must respond properly to these situations and maintain our faith in God. That which for now is a stumbling block will soon become steppingstones for us. Our Christian character will be enhanced and our faith in God increases.
You should get comfort from the fact that men like Joseph, Moses, Elisha and Daniel went through these things as well. They also did not fully understand their situations, but God was faithful. And he is forever faithful.
Just recently my sister lost her eldest child, son through suicide. In times like these its hard to comfort and offer words of encouragement. Yet we know God is faithful and He has a purpose even in these dark times. That is what we have to cling to. That is what we have to remember.
As the verse above from Thessalonians states,” God is faithful, and He will do it. We can show our greatest strength when we can show that we can stand still and just trust the Lord.
