Wonderful Counselor. Isaiah 30:8-21. Sept 03 2020


“And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor....” Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah 9:6 is a prophetic Scripture which lists a number of titles for the coming Messiah Jesus Christ. Among these are Wonderful and Counselor. As Hebrew does not have punctuation some scholars believe that these two names should be put together as one. Wonderful Counselor. Whether that should be the case or not, it is true that He is a Wonderful Counselor.

Jesus speaks to us when we err. He speaks to us with a still small voice as we meditate. He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit who lives within us. He speaks to us through our friends, and even those who disagree with us. He speaks to us through events that happen every day, but mostly He speaks to us through His Word. We need to be sensitive to His counsel.

When He counsels us it may be through a rebuke or words of comfort. He may give us advise or a wake up call. He just counsels in so many different ways. Do you see Him at work in your life?

Our own vision is limited by our earthly limitations. We see matters only through our sinful perspective. We often wish and confirm the choices we make instead of getting counsel that may go against our wishes. What we need is a heavenly perspective so that we can make right decisions for eternity. Jesus our Wonderful Counselor provides that heavenly perspective. Make sure you heed His counsel. Are you listening to Him?
