My previous blog post makes me cry now. It will be OK, but...

The campground where I held the star gazing is Bullfrog Pond in the Austin Creek Nature Reserve. I went several weekends this summer and had the same glorious experience I blogged about last.

The Wallbridge fire has burnt the Bullfrog Pond Campground. Who knows when we'll be able to reconstruct the campground and have visitors or when they will want to come as so much is burnt. It will be at least a year. The Armstrong Woods, where I hiked several times a week and taught people about redwood ecology, is touched by fire, too, but it will recover faster.

California ecology evolved with regular wildfires and the parks will recover. Unfortunately, with every summer now becoming the 'hottest summer on record' and bringing ' the 'largest wildfire on record', who knows how long it before we have destroyed the ecosystem. The carbon released into the atmosphere from these monster fires accelerates climate change.

We face a lot of serious crises and they're all urgent, but we cannot lose sight of the fact that climate change is threatening our very existence. It has begun.

**SIGH** It is sad to me that so many 'in positions of autiority' do not recognize climate change and the dangers!

    Good luck.
