My Grandson Wants to Trade Houses
Thursday, September 24, 2020
My 10 year old grandson told me that he thinks we should trade houses. That way, we would get a newly renovated rec room and he would get twelve acres to explore and outbuildings to play in. I remember my kids when they were little and we market gardened.....they hated having to pick berries, scape garlic, or work in the greenhouses! They would gladly have traded houses. How times change! Normally this would have been our local fair and all the elementary school kids would get a day off school to go to the fair. Our daughter entered everything she could; flowers, vegetables, baking. Our house was always turned upside down as she got her entries ready. I was looking forward to introducing our granddaughter to the farm animals and maybe a ride or two. This is the first time in over 150 years that there has been no fair and no parade. Outdoor gatherings are once more reduced to 25 people and indoor gatherings to 10. That means that most of us will not be hosting Thanksgiving dinner next month as we have more than 10 family members. My daughter is going to a wedding next weekend. It is being held in a farmer's field and guests must stay in their cars. They will be able to see the bride and groom and will hear the service over their car radios. Strange times.
