Today after church, I was talking with my ds and his girlfriend about a whole variety of things - where I had just been, a recipe of mine he wanted to make, our lunch plans, which we had to change at the last minute, because he had forgotten about a prior commitment (typical of my ds, I might add - grrrr...), the whereabouts of my dd, who had disappeared completely (I was not looking forward to searching the grounds, which are extensive) and turned off her phone, and a bunch of other random things. I wasn't making any particular effort to speak quietly, since there was no one anywhere near us, and I guess I was louder than I realized. So was ds, apparently.
Out of a nearby door popped our associate pastor. He was in a humorous mood, I suppose, because he immediately said, "Oh, your daughter is sitting at the school entrance, and has been for quite a while." Then he went on to comment on just about everything else we had been talking about. It seems we were so loud that he could hear us through the (thick and heavy) door, and possibly all the way down the hall on the other side of said door. He teased us about his amazing ability to know what we were thinking, and I was just completely mortified.
I told ds from now on he needs to tell me when I get too loud!
