Talking to God. Psalm 105:1-5. October 17 2020.
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name: make known His deeds among the people.” Psalm 105:1.
What do you do when problems face you? If you are like me you probably try to figure out a solution on your own. We try different things to solve the situation. If that does not work we call up someone who we know and ask them for a solution to our dilemma. What we really need is for that person to ask us, “Have you talked to the Lord about this? Have you prayed about it?
Why is it that we usually bring it to God as a last resort, instead of making that our first priority. We need to experience the joy and contentment that comes from worshipping God , reading His Word, and praying to Him. When we do this our faith will be strengthened. We need to develop good habits so that we will be ok when trials come. We need to begin the day with the Lord, talking to Him and thinking about Him. As we go through our day we can ask God about His plans for us and then respond to those plans. Prayer and communication with Him will be our natural response.
Then when trials hit our first response will be ‘Father” In so doing we acknowledge our dependence on Him. We will be aware of His presence and our need for Him. Begin these practises now, even if you are in the midst of a trial. Confess your need for Him, and ask Him for His help. Receive His love and forgiveness and take everything to Him in prayer. Always call on Him first. You will be glad that you did.
