Answered Prayers. Psalm 66:1-18. October 18 2020.
“If I regard sin in my heart, the Lord will not hear”. Psalm 66:18
Over the last two years I have been praying for the restoration of a marriage in our church. The couple have separated but still want to work things out. Our prayers so far have not been answered. So what does the Bible or God require from us for answered prayers?
John 14:13-14 requires that are completely dependant on Christ to claim a blessing from Him. Nothing we do can bring about answered prayers. We must trust Jesus alone and complexly.
Psalm 66:18 tells us to do away from all known sins. We must not continue in sin if we want answers to our prayers. He does not condone sinfulness.
Hebrews 11:6 says we need to have faith in God’s Word and promises.
I john 5 tells us that our prayers should be in accordance to His will. To know that will we must be in the Word and pray.
Luke 18:1-8 says we must be persistent in our prayers. He wants us to continue to pray until our prayers are answered. So in my case I need to continue praying even though we have seen little progress in two years of separation by this couple.
Remember that God is willing to answer our prayers. He just asks us to come boldly before His throne. Ask God to cleanse your heart, surrender to His will in prayer, and completely depend on His grace.
