Mom's going in for chemo today

Wednesday, October 21, 2020

I woke up at 1 am with my head buzzy with a hundred thoughts. I have plenty to do today while my mom's getting her treatment, it's supposed to last 6 hours. I'm going to do her laundry and mine, clean the bathroom, possibly do dishes, exercise - upper body, core, and PT exercises for knee. I'm going to try to get 1500 steps in, it doesn't sound like much but with an exceptionally sore knee it's plenty.

I made my mom a little goodie bag with lotion, hand lotion, a sudoku book and a word search book. The finally gift was a neon green wig! She loved it and it made her laugh so that made me feel like I helped a little πŸ’–πŸ€—πŸ˜‚.

I did a 15 min arm routine on Monday at Shawn's with modifications. Figure I'll do the same to day with the core exercises if I have to - no planks or dolphin poses LOL 😜.

I'm just trying to stay occupied so I don't stress too much.

If anyone has gone through chemo or helped someone who has gone through it I would really appreciate any advice on how to help her.

Thanks for reading if you made it this farπŸ€—.

Happy Wednesday, I πŸ’– you all!

All you can do is be there for her. Love her, hold her hand, give her an hug, and if necessary, help her shave her head. Laugh with her, cry with her. If she is hungry, bring her something to eat, even if it is ice cream at 7 AM. Chemo changes your taste buds. Nothing tastes right, and some things never will. My husband did three sessions of 17 to 18 days of inpatient chemo, with only a week out in between for Burkitt Lymphoma. I brought him spicy foods because that is what he could taste. And during the last part of the third session I could just sit by the bed and hold his hand.

It has now been nine years (this month, in fact), and so far so good.

You are a good daughter πŸ’“πŸ’πŸ‘. Please don't stress yourself out by trying to accomplish too much. Take a deep breath, thank God for being able to help your mom and ask Him for guidance. Blessing to you and your beautiful motherπŸ™πŸ’“
