Shelter in the Storm. Psalm 62:1-12. Oct. 26 2020
“Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” Psalm 62:1-5
When a storm comes into your life what do you do? Do you venture out into it or do you retreat to a safe place and wait it out? Do you trust God to protect you and keep you safe?
The verses above are key to know in the storms of life. God is your rock. He is your defence. Wait silently for Him. Think about God’s creatures, what do they do? They will find a safe and protective place and wait out the storm. They usually sit silently in this place knowing that they are protected.
We too must retreat to a safe place. Psalm 91:4 says, “He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” Read the entire Psalm and it will comfort you and give you direction when the storms of life come.
When the storms come, and they will, remember the words of Psalm 62 and especially, “my soul silently waits for God.” Be confident in the source of your protection, and do not panic.
Be confident that God will be with us when we call out to Him. Rest in Him, be anxious about nothing. When the storm passes we can emerge victoriously from our hiding place. Always be quick to seek shelter under the shadow of His wings.
